On 7 October 2024, a focus group convened at the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí in Figueres. This was an opportunity to present the BISS Standards and discuss them with four international artists—Paloma Varga Weisz (Germany), Toni Schmale (Germany), June Crespo (Spain), and David Bestué (Spain).
The session aimed to introduce these innovative standards to contemporary artists and receive their feedback on their relevance and usability. The participants explored how these guidelines could help to document, manage, and conserve sculptural works.
Key insights included the importance of maintaining accurate documentation of artworks, even beyond the artist’s studio. The group emphasised the potential of standardised information, aligned with the BISS project, to improve transparency and ensure proper tracking. This focus group underscored the critical role of standardisation in supporting artists and enhancing the sustainable management of the sculptural heritage.
After the working session, the attendees visited the Dalí Theatre-Museum and had the opportunity to explore some of the main aspects discussed in relation to the sculpture of Salvador Dalí.
